Basement Waterproofing FAQ’s

Can you do Waterproofing work in the wintertime?

Yes, we can definitely install our interior waterproofing systems in the winter.

How do I prepare my home/basement for your crew?

We ask that you clear an area of 6 feet away from the walls or area where we are working. If needed, we can help move heavy appliances that may be difficult for you to move. If you have any household items that are important to you, make sure they are covered or removed. In wintertime, we ask that you clear a path from the driveway or street to your bulkhead and or basement entrance. The cleared path should be a minimum of 3 ft. wide. Clearing this path will help us make sure our client’s homes stay as dry, clean, and neat as possible during the installation process.

Do I need a tiling system, or do I just need a sump pump?

The most effective way to keep water out of your basement is to install a non-clogging interior waterproofing system that redirects the water to a sump pump which then pumps the water out of the home. Many homeowners believe that simply installing a sump pump will eliminate their water problem. However, without installing a tiling system to direct the water into your sump pump pit, this is a false sense of security. We have seen homes with multiple sump pumps still leaking because there is no tiling system in place. Think of your tiling system as your roof’s gutter system and the downspouts are your sump pump. Your downspouts can’t collect the water from the roof without the gutters being there to direct the water down and out.

Do I really need a backup battery?

Battery-powered backup sump pumps have saved countless homes from flooding and water damage. For those at high risk, a battery backup sump pump is essential. It will provide peace of mind and might even get you a cost break on your homeowner’s insurance.

Do you do work in crawl spaces?

Yes. All methods that we use in conjunction with full-depth basements can be used to address crawl space related problems. If we are to do any work from the interior, we generally need at least three feet of headroom.

Does this system come with a warranty?

Our systems come with a limited-lifetime transferable warranty.

I am selling my house. Should I fix the problem before I sell it?

Absolutely. Prior to selling your house, you will be required to fill out a disclosure form. One of the first few questions asks if you are aware of any seepage problems in your basement or crawl space. Leaving the problem for the new owner to fix will typically result in a much lower sales price, as the buyer will generally overstate the cost to fix the problem. Failure to inform the buyer of any problems can also result in a lawsuit.

Can I fix one area?

In most cases, the answer is yes, but it really depends on your particular problem. Unlike some waterproofing contractors, we do not push you into waterproofing the entire basement if it is not necessary (unless you prefer it). As a full-service waterproofing contractor, we offer several solutions, both from the interior and exterior, as opposed to a one-size-fits-all system. Our waterproofing specialists are trained to recommend a customized honest solution for your home.

Do we offer financing?

Yes absolutely! We are even offering 0% interest until 2023!
