Dehumidification Systems

Industrial & Commercial Dehumidification Systems.

Why a Dehumidifer ?

Just because you have a waterproofing system, does not mean your basement is dry. When the outside air is warmer than the inside air, it is likely to have a condensation problem.

Living in Des Moines Iowa climate, indoor humidity is especially high in the summertime when the outdoor humidity is also high.

You are likely to notice moisture more in your basement where moisture is easily trapped. Excess humidity in the home can cause perfect conditions for mold and dust mites to thrive.

Mold is a common allergen and sends spore through the home. Mites are also a trigger for people with allergies and asthma.

The excess moisture may also be obvious with the smell of musty odors, seeing mold growth or feeling clammy. Too much moisture over time can start to impact your homes insulation and foundation. It can also lead to warping and damage to the wood in home, such as floor and trim. Moisture can also get trapped in carpets, furniture, curtains, and area rugs.

Homeowners tend to run the air conditioner at cooler temperatures in the summer to mitigate the humidity, but this is wasting energy and money. The air conditioner is not an effective dehumidifier for your home. Because a dehumidifier uses significantly less energy than an air conditioner, installing either a whole- house system or a smaller unit can cut cooling costs; not only does the air conditioner not have to work as hard, but it also may run less often or at a higher temperature. Resulting in saving energy and money.

Installing a dehumidifier will allow you to control the humidity, fresh air ventilation, and air filtration in your home. It can also help protect your home from any damage from excess humidity. Dehumidifiers can also be an effective protection against airborne viruses. Balancing your homes humidity reduces indoor allergens. In return you could benefit from greater overall health, less stress, better sleep, and a happier family.

How does a dehumidifier work?

A fan draws warm, humid air over a cold coil, which  condenses the moisture into liquid; the water is removed via a drain pipe.

Make sure to choose a dehumidifier that fits the size of your home or area need to dehumidify. Try choosing a dehumidifier that has a user-friendly design and is easy to maintain. Also look for safe hazard free professional grade dehumidifiers

Make sure to place it on a flat floor surface, don’t use power strips or extension cords to power. Place at least 6” away from the wall or structures that may impede airflow to dehumidifier. Ideal relative humidity level for most spaces is set to 45-50%. Regularly empty collection bucket or have a continuous drainage system and make sure drain hose securely attached to unit.
